Section 01
Mold growth in Littleton properties often begins in basements, bathrooms, and utility areas where moisture goes undetected. At Atlas Contracting & Environmental Solutions, we treat mold at the source rather than masking the symptoms. Our certified technicians start every project with a detailed moisture mapping assessment, using thermal imaging and hygrometers to pinpoint exactly where water intrusion or condensation is fueling fungal growth. This diagnostic step is critical because removing visible mold without addressing the underlying moisture guarantees recurrence within weeks.
Once the moisture source is identified, our crew establishes full containment using 6-mil poly sheeting and negative air pressure. This prevents spore migration into unaffected areas of your home during the remediation process. Every air handling unit on-site runs HEPA filtration rated to capture particles down to 0.3 microns, which includes virtually all mold spore species found in Colorado's Front Range climate. Containment barriers remain in place until post-remediation air quality testing confirms spore counts have returned to normal background levels.
Moisture Mapping
Detailed moisture mapping to identify the root cause of mold growth in Littleton basements. We use thermal imaging cameras and pin-type meters to trace water intrusion paths through foundation walls, around window wells, and along plumbing runs that homeowners cannot see with the naked eye.
Full Containment
Containment using 6-mil poly sheeting to prevent spore spread to unaffected rooms. Negative air machines maintain pressure differentials so that airborne spores are drawn toward HEPA filtration units rather than into your living spaces, protecting your family throughout the project.
HEPA Treatment
HEPA vacuuming and antimicrobial fogging to kill surface and airborne spores. After physical removal, we apply EPA-registered antimicrobial agents to structural surfaces, creating a protective barrier that inhibits future colonization even if minor moisture events occur before permanent repairs are complete.
Material Removal
Safe removal of porous materials like drywall and insulation that cannot be salvaged. Mold penetrates the matrix of porous substrates, making surface cleaning insufficient. We carefully cut, bag, and dispose of compromised materials following OSHA and EPA guidelines, then prepare surfaces for reconstruction.
Structural Cleaning
Ice blasting or wire brushing for mold removal from structural wood and rafters. In attic spaces, where Littleton's freeze-thaw cycles create persistent condensation on roof sheathing, we use dry ice blasting to remove mold from wood grain without introducing additional moisture or damaging the structural integrity of rafters and joists.
Vapor Barriers
Vapor barrier installation to control moisture levels in crawl spaces. Many Littleton homes built on crawl space foundations lack adequate ground moisture protection. We install 20-mil reinforced vapor barriers, sealed at seams and anchored to foundation walls, reducing ground moisture transmission by up to 95 percent.
Ventilation
Ventilation improvements to prevent future condensation and mold recurrence. We assess soffit intake, ridge exhaust, and mechanical ventilation capacity to ensure adequate air exchange. In crawl spaces, we may recommend encapsulation with dehumidifier systems for long-term humidity control below the 50 percent threshold that mold requires to thrive.
Safe Products
Family-safe, non-toxic cleaning agents used whenever possible for peace of mind. Our treatment protocols prioritize botanical and hydrogen-peroxide-based antimicrobials over harsh chlorine compounds. These products are effective against all common mold species found in Colorado while remaining safe for households with children, pets, and individuals with chemical sensitivities.
Section 02
Attics and crawl spaces present unique remediation challenges that general mold removal companies often underestimate. In Littleton, attic mold is frequently caused by inadequate roof ventilation combined with warm, moist air rising from living spaces below. When that air meets cold roof sheathing during winter months, condensation forms and mold colonies establish themselves on wood surfaces within days. Our team has remediated hundreds of attic mold cases along the Front Range and understands the specific ventilation dynamics of Colorado construction.
Crawl space mold is equally persistent. Ground moisture vapor, seasonal water table fluctuations, and poor drainage around Littleton foundations create ideal conditions for mold growth on floor joists, subfloor sheathing, and HVAC ductwork. Because crawl space air circulates into the living space above through the stack effect, mold contamination below your home directly impacts the air quality your family breathes. ACES addresses crawl space mold with a comprehensive approach that includes remediation, encapsulation, and moisture management to deliver lasting results rather than temporary fixes.
Choosing a mold remediation contractor is a decision that affects your family's health and your property's long-term value. Atlas Contracting & Environmental Solutions brings EPA Lead-Safe Certification (No. NAT-F222667), DUNS registration (117517457), and CAGE CODE 62FR3 credentials to every project. These certifications reflect our commitment to following federal safety and environmental standards throughout the remediation process. When you hire ACES, you are working with a team that holds itself to the same standards required for government and commercial environmental projects.
Our process is transparent from start to finish. After the initial inspection, we provide a written scope of work that details every affected area, the remediation methods we will use, and a clear timeline. There are no hidden charges and no surprise change orders. We photograph conditions before, during, and after remediation so you have complete documentation for insurance claims and future reference. Many Littleton homeowners have used our documentation to successfully file insurance claims for covered water damage events that led to mold growth.
Post-remediation, we conduct independent air quality testing through a third-party laboratory to verify that spore counts have returned to acceptable levels. This clearance testing is the gold standard in the remediation industry and provides objective proof that the work meets professional guidelines. We also provide a detailed report of moisture readings throughout the affected area to confirm that the underlying moisture problem has been resolved. Our team follows up with recommendations for ongoing moisture monitoring, dehumidification, and maintenance steps specific to your property's construction and Littleton's semi-arid climate with its seasonal humidity spikes.
Early detection prevents costly damage. Contact ACES for a thorough mold assessment and a clear remediation plan tailored to your property.

We had a roof leak in our kitchen caused by a roofer. Rob came out right away and assessed the issue and worked with myself and the roofer. That day he had made a plan for how the job would go, and began setting up equipment to keep my family safe. He walked me through every step of how the job would go and kept my husband and I informed throughout the process. He made sure that the toddler and newborn in my home would be safe throughout the entire demo process. I cannot recommend this company enough.

This is an honest place. There are so many disreputable companies out there in this industry, but Atlas is not one of them. Quick work, proper abatement to prevent contamination, and friendly service all come with the fairly priced Atlas contract. Nobody wants to have this work done because it usually means things have gone sideways in your home. That said, if you do, call Atlas Contracting and Environmental Solutions; the company is ACES!!!

Littleton's geography and climate create specific conditions that contribute to indoor mold problems. Situated along the South Platte River corridor at roughly 5,350 feet elevation, Littleton experiences wide temperature swings between day and night, particularly during spring and fall. These swings cause condensation on windows, pipes, and uninsulated surfaces inside homes. Add Colorado's occasional heavy rainstorms and snowmelt events, and you have recurring opportunities for water intrusion through aging foundations, deteriorated window seals, and compromised roofing materials.
Many Littleton neighborhoods feature homes built between the 1960s and 1990s, an era when crawl space ventilation standards and vapor barrier requirements were less stringent than current building codes. These older homes are particularly susceptible to crawl space mold, attic condensation issues, and mold growth behind finished basement walls where water intrusion may go unnoticed for months or years. The musty smell that many homeowners attribute to normal basement odor is often the first indicator of an active mold colony that has been growing behind drywall or under carpet padding.
Black mold, specifically Stachybotrys chartarum, receives the most public attention, but Littleton homes frequently harbor Aspergillus, Penicillium, Cladosporium, and Alternaria species as well. Each species has different health implications and growth preferences, but all require professional-grade containment and removal to prevent cross-contamination during the remediation process. ACES technicians are trained to identify mold species visually and through laboratory sampling so that our remediation approach matches the specific conditions found in your home.
Answers to the most common questions we hear from Littleton residents about mold removal, costs, and prevention.
Typical range is $15 to $30 per square foot for affected areas Total project costs often fall between $1,500 and $5,000 Price depends on accessibility (e.g., attic vs open room)
Musty odors are the first sign Visible dark spotting or staining on walls Allergic reactions or respiratory issues in occupants
DIY often spreads spores by failing to use containment Bleach does not kill mold roots on porous surfaces Professionals use industrial HEPA filtration and moisture detection
Most projects completed in 2 to 5 days Drying the moisture source is the first step Final clearance testing adds 24-48 hours
Coverage usually depends on the 'cause of loss' (e.g., sudden pipe burst vs long-term leak) We help document the damage for your claim Check for 'mold endorsements' in your policy
Not if the moisture source is fixed ACES identifies the leak or humidity issue to prevent return We offer advice on dehumidification and ventilation
Requires careful removal of drywall to access the cavity Studs are cleaned and treated with antimicrobial sealant Containment prevents spores from entering the living area
Using HEPA machines to cycle and clean the air 4-6 times per hour Removes 99.97% of airborne mold spores Ensures air quality is safe before containment is removed
